I did the Superpower Health blood test, so you don’t have to, but after reading this, you might want to. Yearly bloodwork is something we all should be doing, but it sometimes doesn't provide the insights we want.
Superpower Health reached out to me, and I was intrigued by the extensive number of biomarkers they check for a relatively low cost. I thought it would be a valuable and interesting experience to document and share with anyone considering this service.
It's important to note that this post is not sponsored. I received the test at no cost, but there was no requirement or agreement for me to create this in exchange.
What the Testing Process Looked Like
To get set up, I created an account on their website, completed a health history questionnaire, and purchased the baseline diagnostic panel. I bought it with the code they provided, so it was $0 for me to try.
I then had the option to choose between visiting a nearby Sonora Quest or to book an at-home blood draw at an additional cost. I chose the in-person option and received a lab order form by email to bring to my blood draw.
After I selected how I would like my labs taken, Superpower sent an email with the next steps for preparing for my blood draw. They also provide a 24/7 hotline to text a real person with any questions.
To prepare for the blood draw, my steps were to
- Stop taking supplements for at least 72 hours before the test.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours before the test
- Fast for at least 10 hours (no food or caffeine)
- Drink plenty of water.
I scheduled the blood draw for a week later. At my scheduled time, I arrived, walked in, and finished everything in 15 minutes.
While it is a lot of blood tests, they only take six vials, which is how many they take for a routine yearly screen.

During my blood draw, the phlebotomist was one of the best, and it was over quickly. He asked how much I paid for the tests, and when I told him the price, he said I got a great deal, which I agree with, since ordering them on my own from Sonora Quest would cost roughly $722.
My results came 11 days after the blood draw and I was notified by text and email that the results were ready.
What You Get in the Superpower Health Report
Once your report is ready, it shows your biomarkers and color codes them based on in-range values and those that are out of range. Optimal (green), normal (yellow), or out of range (pink).

One reason I wanted to do this test was that I was curious about my iron levels. Three months before taking this test, I decided to start taking higher-dose iron supplements and overdid it.
You’ll see throughout my test results that I made a whoops! This is a great example of why testing before making changes is important, but hey I’m human too.
You can sort them by categories, and the report gives you a grade (A–F) on how each bodily system performs based on the number of out-of-range values.

If they aren't all in optimal, you get a B, sorry to all the other overachievers. Also, in this baseline test, none of the DNA Health labs are included, so it defaults to B and includes an "unlock" feature to purchase additional tests.

You also see key insights ranked by priority tied to your out-of-range values. These are clear action steps for what to do next. I appreciate that one of the first suggestions was to visit my primary care physician for a tailored plan that would be safe for me.

Overall, the layout is clean and easy to navigate, and the charts make it simple to scan trends without feeling overwhelmed.
The Markers That Stood Out
Getting a test back that has so many biomarkers can be overwhelming, but the layout Superpower Health has makes it feel easier to understand what is most important and what is going on.
Some of the values that stood out to me on my test were the ones related to iron and a low vitamin D score. I was surprised by my vitamin D levels. Most people are low in vitamin D. I’ve never had mine checked, and it was running low. Not good for my immune, brain, and bone health.
A more comprehensive test like this gives insight into your personal data, helping you understand your labs and where to focus. For example, I had been more concerned about iron than vitamin D, but the results showed I needed to adjust my priorities.
Other lab values that I found interesting are;
- Atherogenic Coefficient
- Vitamin D
- Iron
- Iron Saturation
- Ferritin
- Calcium
- Estimated Average Glucose
- T3 Uptake
- T4 (thyroxine) Total
- Testosterone
- Estradiol
- Cortisol
- CRP
- Electrolytes
- White Blood Cells
In reality, I like all the lab values and learning about new ones and how they impact overall health, so it’s really fun for me to see!

What Aligned and What Didn’t
As a vegan dietitian, I monitor certain nutrients closely and always advise others to do the same. Also, I'm sharing my lab results because for some reason talking about labs that are out of range feels embarrassing for literally no reason.
These are my results and shouldn't be used to compare yourself to, and it's also not medical advice; this is my own personal experience.
Here are the values that fell out of range on my test.

Using these lab values and the concierge support at Superpower Health, this is the suspicion on how all of the out of range labs are connected. When I messaged their medical team, a registered dietitian replied. How cool! I love seeing newer companies use expert voices in the health and nutrition space.
Like I advise all of you, I will also see my primary care provider to review them more closely and make sure I’m on track. After taking this test, I followed up with my PCP 3 weeks later to recheck, and all my iron levels returned to normal! Vit D was still low but increasing!
Iron / Blood Viscosity Cluster
This is the main area where my supplementation issue shows up. I have high iron levels plus low ferritin, suggesting excessive supplementation.
Ferritin 25 ng/mL → low storage iron
Iron 179 μg/dL & Iron Saturation 49 % → high circulating iron
Hemoglobin 15.4 g/dL, Hematocrit 48 % → upper range (“hemoconcentration”)
Ferritin‑to‑Albumin 5.1 (low optimal 10–20) → consistent with low iron stores relative to albumin production.
These indicate I’m absorbing and circulating iron likely due to over-supplementation. The high hematocrit suggests plasma volume may be low (maybe from mild dehydration from living in a hot, dry climate).
Vitamin D / Calcium Axis
Vitamin D 26 ng/mL (low)
Calcium 10.3 mg/dL (slightly high)
Albumin 4.9 g/dL (high‑normal)
Likely mild dehydration plus low D. When vitamin D is low, you can’t properly regulate calcium, total calcium may read high from concentration rather than true overload.
Connections:
Low vitamin D may reduce calcium utilization in the bones, leading to higher circulating calcium.
Action Steps To Take After Bloodwork
Once you see the results of bloodwork and there is something out of range it’s good to take action instead of waiting; that way issues don’t progress. The Superpower Health portal creates a section with an action plan that highlights what to do next. My next steps are;

I've also visited my PCP, and we worked on a plan together, and am working on correcting the lower vitamin D!
Pros and Cons
There are always things you love and things you don't, this is my opinion.
Pros of Superpower Health
I like several aspects of this service. They use a reputable lab I'm familiar with, so I trust the accuracy, and it felt like a regular legitimate blood test.
Cost: Very competitive given the number of tests included. $199 for all 104 tests valued at over $700 on Sonora Quest's site.
User-friendly: The website is easy to use, and communication is clear, so you always know what to do and how to do it. The report itself is easy to read, not overwhelming, and organized by priority or out-of-range values.
Support: Their support team is responsive and helpful, and they also offer an AI chatbot for quick guidance.
Turnaround time: felt slightly longer than usual; the results came in 11 days instead of the typical 5 to 7 business days, but a recent holiday likely extended the timing.
Cons of Superpower Health
There aren’t many things I dislike about this test, and only one came to mind after I reviewed the tests.
Tests Not Included: Vitamin B12 and folate aren’t included in this basic panel, which is important when assessing iron status, and vegans are advised to check B12 annually, so I’ll need a separate blood draw.
In the "what you get" section, I mention that the default is "B" if some areas aren't tested. All DNA health tests fall under their Methylation Panel, including B12, folate, homocysteine, and Vitamin B6. However, it is an additional $169 to add on.
I can visit Sonora Quest and have my B12, Folate, and homocysteine checked for $125. While the Superpower Health tests do come with a platform and access to healthcare providers to answer more complex questions, I do wish these vegan-specific labs were included when you indicate your eating habits in their health history form.
Some Features: the “superpower score” is more fun than actionable and a minor issue compared with the value of the test.
Final Thoughts
Getting a comprehensive blood test with Superpower Health gave me clearer insight into my nutrient status and areas to focus on. The process was easy, the report is user-friendly and actionable, and the support team is responsive.
While a few labs like B12 and folate aren’t included, and some features are more for fun than guidance, the overall value is great. This test can be a useful tool for anyone wanting a detailed look at their health and a starting point for informed lifestyle changes.
